Do you accept insurance payments like Medicaid or Medicare?
American Heelers currently does not accept direct reimbursement from medical insurance companies. Our price is low and competitive so most of our customers can afford to pay out of pocket. We do however provide detailed receipts to our customers who can submit a claim on their own to their insurance companies.

What is the method used to modify my shoe and correct my leg length difference?
We at American Heelers have hundreds of thousands of shoes worth of experience under our belts and over the years have perfected the craft. Unlike your local cobbler or prosthetic company who do a shoe mod very seldom we tackle hundreds of shoes of all styles every day and only we have the experience to do this work the right way. We start by very carefully splitting the sole with a precision hand cut. We then add the build up custom to the exact size you specify. We will then reattach the original sole bottom from your shoe so you are gong to be walking on the original tread as the shoe was designed to be worn. This is important so your feet do not notice the difference. One of the last steps is to smooth and finish around the shoe so the crepe material we added is flush and contiguous along the shoe edges. We add dye and color where necessary to complete the finished look and to make the modification as least noticeable as possible. Every shoe is different however and requires just the right touch to perfect.

I understand you offer free shipping and handling on your service, how do I qualify?
If your shoe lift modification size is over 1” American Heelers will pay for the shipping and handling costs going both ways when using our service. All other order of two or more shoes, sent together in one order, are also included in our free shipping program.

What type of shoe works best with your service? Are there any shoes you cannot do and I should stay away from?

I have a very large leg length difference, is there a shoe lift size you cannot do?
We have done shoe modifications as large as 5”. There is no size we cannot do. We even do our lifts to the exact millimeter as specified by our customers.

I have considered using heel inserts and internal shoe lifts to compensate for my leg length difference, do you sell inserts?
Many of our customers began using shoe inserts and heel inserts. The common thing we hear from these people is that this is a very uncomfortable and painful solution to leg length differences. The inserts move around inside the shoe under the foot causing discomfort and pain.

Heel lift inserts also have an inherent limitation. Shoe cavities only have so much room to accommodate the foot, they are usually tight and there is no extra room to add an insert inside the cavity of the shoe. Thus any leg length difference of more than ¼" must be handled through external shoe sole modification and not insert.

I am a motorcyclist and my stature in size makes it difficult to reach the controls when I ride, do you modify motorcycle boots for this purpose?
We cater to this market and have many clients like you. We modify the sole of both the left and right motorcycle boot, usually about 1” to 1.5”, this accomplishes the goal of riding more comfortably.
